'Nimfees i Ondines' by Elger Esser

Although he spent his childhood in Rome, this photographer was born in the German city of Stuttgart in 1967. During the decade of the nineties he was taught by the famous Hilla Becher at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, where he lives and works today.

Classical genres of vedutismo and landscape are central themes in the photographic work of Elger Esser. His style is characterized by a predilection for the diffuse and the constant tension between the micro and macro structures. Another of his trademarks is the frequent associations with travel literature of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
