Dutch sculptor Yke Prins (Delft, 1961) came to Mallorca invited by Palmyra Sculpture Centre to investigate the potential of olive wood as material for his sculptures.
He spent weeks exploring the island, photographing countless trees and finally discovered his favorite spot around Orient. The special light of Mallorca and the complicated forms of olive trees have served as inspiration for the new series of drawings, ink paintings and woodcuts which is now displayed in the courtyard of Casal Solleric.
You can visit more pieces by YkePrins at Palmyra Sculpture Centre. In addition, the artist will give two workshops on Drawing Nature in September and October.
