Directed by Andoni Mercero, who also acts as concertmaster, the Baroque Orchestra of Seville opens the 57th Pollença Festival, with Carlos Mena as a countertenor.
The program is titled Tutto Vivaldi and is dedicated to the composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741). It consists of: Concert for strings in in sol menor RV 155, Sovvente il sole (Perseu aria of Andromeda liberata RV Anh. 117, Mentre dormi (Aria de Licida, of L'Olimpiade RV 725), Concert for two violins, strings and harpsichord in D minor RV 565, Qual serpe tortuosa (Aria de Osmino, from La fida Ninfa RV 714) and Barbaro traditor (aria de Tamerlano, from Bajazet RV 703).
The orchestra consists of: Andoni Mercero, Leo Rossi, José Manuel Villarreal and Valentín Sánchez (first violins), Pedro Gandía Martín, José Manuel Navarro and Antonio Almela (second violins), Kepa Artetxe and Pepo Ferrer (violas), Mercedes Ruiz and Miguel Ángel Aguiló (violonchelos), Ventura Rico (double bass) and Carlos García-Bernalt and Patricia González (organ and harpsichord).
