'Pablo and me'

A few years ago, Pau Casals' widow, Marta Montañez, granted the great Israeli cellist Amit Peled a privilege he would never have dreamed: bring Pablo back to life so he can be heard in small cities in the United States and Spain.

Pablo is none other than the cello built by Matthew Gofriller in 1733 and once owned by the master Pau Casals, recently restored by the Foundation Casals and now reaching the XXXVII International Music Festival of Deià by the hand of Amit Peled.

Along with pianist Alfredo Oyagüez Montero, artistic director of the festival, he will offer the same program as now one hundred years ago - on February 12 of 1915 offered by Pau Casals at the Peabody School of Music in Baltimore, in the United States. It consists of works by Handel, Bach, Beethoven, Faure and Saint Saens.
