Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat

The acclaimed French pianist Pierre-Laurent Boucharlat arrives at the 2025 Deià International Music Festival with a monographic program dedicated to Beethoven's Sonatas.

Boucharlat made his orchestral debut at 13 and gave his first solo recital when he was just 15. Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, he has received two international awards: Darius Milhaud in 1997 and Spediman in 1999.

He is highly regarded by the public, for his sensitivity and the emotions he evokes with his performances, as well as by contemporary composers, who have dedicated two works to him: Lignes d'Ombre for solo piano by Gérard Gastinel and Concerto Mikado for piano and orchestra by the Spanish composer Juan-Francisco Tortosa-Esteve. His colleagues consider him a Beethoven specialist, and he is currently recording a complete collection of his celebrated 32 piano sonatas, with four CDs of the most famous works released.

His discography also includes composers such as Chopin, Schumann, Moussogorski, and Liszt. His recording of Chopin's etudes, which appeared in the French magazine Piano, Le Magazine, has been critically acclaimed.
