This curious musical project interrelates Mediterranean folk music with Mesopotamian and Persian music, with compositions by Tomeu Gomila and Pegah Khoei.
Qànât discovers the links between the old work songs of the Balearic Islands, to be sung in the fields, and the old songs of the Byzantine chants, with very similar melodies. This makes them especially interesting to be interwoven with music from the Middle East and Central Asia such as Iran, Turkey, Tajikistan and the ancient Khorasan region.
