Sandra Ferrández & Orquestra del Festival de Santanyí

The third concert of the XI Vila de Santanyí International Festival is the traditional Música arrran de mar, which takes place at Caló den Busques, a beautiful spot in Cala Figuera. The mezzo-soprano Sandra Ferrández takes part, accompanied by the Santanyí Festival Orchestra, conducted by Vicent Balaguer.

Born in Crevillent (Alicante), Sandra Ferrández finished her singing career with Professor Ana Luisa Chova at the Joaquín Rodrigo Superior Conservatory of Music in Valencia. Throughout her career she has received numerous awards and recognitions.

Some of her recent and upcoming projects are: Carmen de Bizet in La Maestranza in Seville and Alicante, Mozart's Requiem in the National Auditorium of Madrid, El Gato Montés at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo and in La Maestranza in Seville, Rigoletto in Malaga, La Dama del Alba at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo, Hänsel und Gretel in Bilbao and Santander, Nixon in China at the Teatro Real in Madrid, The Händel's Messiah with the Andalusian Youth Baroque Orchestra, and the Symphony No. 2 by Gustav Mahler at the National Auditorium, among others.

A great exponent of zarzuela, she is widely applauded in titles such as El A Midsummer Night's Dream, La Villana, La Revoltosa, La Corte de Pharaoh, Luisa Fernanda, La Malquerida and El Barberillo de Lavapiés.

The Santany Festival Orchestra, directed by the Valencian Vicent Balaguer, is a new group made up of prestigious musicians from important Spanish orchestras and young instrumentalists who are still perfecting themselves in musical centers in Spain and abroad.
