Saint ‘Margarita’

It is the patron saint of Felanitx, a municipality that maintains ancestral traditions and this festival is a good example of this. The main events are celebrated the 19 and 20 of July, where popular dances by the Cavallets can be seen on the streets of the village.

These dances include xeremies (they are similar to bagpipes) a fabiol ( a kind of flute) and the tambori (a small drum).  The dance of the cavallets is of medieval origin and in Felanitx is represented by a group of seven children, between 10 and 13 years old, dressed in traditional clothing.

The festivity of Santa Margalida, without the ritual dances, is also celebrated in Santa Margalida and Santa Maria del Camí.
