This opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica was premiered with great success in Rome in January 1900. The text of the play is based on Tosca, a drama written by Frenchman Victorien Sardou set in Rome occupied by Napoleon's troops.
La Tosca we can now see in Sala Herrera of Es Forti is a 2011 recording of the Royal Opera House in London, under the direction of Antonio Pappano. Involved in the leading roles, Angela Gheorghiu (soprano), Jonas Kaufmann (tenor) and Bryn Terfel (bass-baritone).
