Simfovents Palma and Capella Mallorquina come together in this concert that closes the XXIV Festival de Música Antiga de Palma 2021. It is entitled L'homme armé armé, a popular song from the late 14th century based on the idealization of the sounds of shouting in the streets and the fanfare of trumpets encouraging the people to rise up in arms.
This song became very popular and throughout the 15th century it was used throughout Europe by learned composers. On the occasion of the turn of the millennium, Karl Jenkins composed The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace (1999), which can be heard in this concert.
