The Italian composer Giovanni Battista Draghi known as Pergolesi (1710-1736) wrote one of the most famous versions of Stabat Mater for soprano, alto and orchestra. This work of the thirteenth century, attributed to Pope Innocent III and the Franciscan Jacopone da Todi, narrates the suffering of Mary and Mary Magdalene at the time of the crucifixion of Jesus.
In this production, which opens the series Musica Antiga Palma, features the ensemble Una Hora de Música Antiga, with soloists Lorenzo Gugole (violin solo), Bernat Cabot (violin II), Lucia Camopagnari (viola), Xisco Aguiló (violone da gamba), Tomeu Mut (harpsichord), Montserrat Mozo (soprano) and Eulalia Salbanyà (alto).
