The Italian composer Giovanni Battista Draghi, known as Pergolesi (1710-1736), wrote one of the most famous versions of Stabat Mater for soprano, contralto and orchestra. This 13th-century work, attributed to Pope Innocent III and Franciscan Jacopone da Todi, chronicles the suffering of Mary and Mary Magdalene at the time of Jesus' crucifixion.
La joven Orquestra de Cambra de Mallorca, under the direction of Rafael Sánchez-Araña, offers this concert with a repertoire formed by Stabat Mater, Symphony Il Santo Sepolcro by Antonio Vivaldi and Symphony Il Lamento d’Arianna de Locatelli. The soprano Mercedes Darder and the contralto Helena Ressurreiçao will act as soloists.
