The 19th production of the Art Vocal Ensemble presents a comprehensive program of baroque music in a choral symphonic format. It includes two iconic works from this artistic period: Te Deum, by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and Gloria, by Antonio Vivaldi.
Te Deum, by the French composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier (Paris, 1643-1704), is a polyphonic motet consisting of ten numbers. The work is written for a group of soloists, choir and instrumental accompaniment.
Although Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) composed several Gloria - a type of religious work-, the one cataloged as RV 589 is the best known and most popular of the Venetian composer's sacred music.
This concert, conducted by Llorenç Gelabert Gual, includes Margarita Rodríguez (soprano), Natàlia Salom (soprano), Marisa Roca (mezzo-soprano), Roger Berenguer (tenor), Gabriel Mas (bariton), the Art Vocal Ensemble choir and the orchestra Chamber of Art Vocal Ensemble.
The concert is celebrated on December 11th in the Church of La Porciúncula (S'Arenal-Palma) and on December 12th in the Church of the Convent de Sant Agustí de Felanitx.
