This Sardinian formation has showed worldwide the hypnotic beauty of il canto a tenore, declared by UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity Oral in 2005. This is the most archaic ethnic musical expression of central Sardinia, which was probably part of a set of vocal traditions present in other areas of the Mediterranean basin but has only been preserved in the islands.
In il canto a tenore participate four singers called :low (bassu), alto (counter), softly (mesu oche) and voice (oche). In CaixaForum Palma we will have the opportunity to hear this ancient polyphony by one of the most significant formations. Tenore di Bitti, created in 1995, consists of Omar Bandinu (bassu), Marco Serra (contra), Bachisio Pira (oche, oche mesu) and Arcangelo Pittudu (oche, oche mesu).
