The maritime world has always been a recurring theme in the work of Yolanda del Riego, but in The Sea As I See It, it takes on a protagonist presence. The exhibition shows about thirty digital artworks printed on different substrates: cotton paper, Dibond, acrylic and C-Prints. With them she achieves very special textures like reliefs and transparencies.
The trajectory of Yolanda del Riego is the result of a series of personal circumstances that have taken her to many places, always maintaining a non-conformist attitude.
She was born in 1943 in Dominican Republic during the political exile of her Asturian parents. She came to Spain being very young and at twenty embarked in a new life in New England (USA), integrated in an artistic community, that was very active at the time. Between 1973 and 1980 she lived in Anchorage (Alaska), where she studied intaglio techniques and set up her first studio. In 1981 she returned to Spain.
Abstract landscapes are a constant in the work of Yolanda del Riego and in this exhibition we will find abstract representations of the effects of light and color on the tides, along with more elaborate and geometric interpretations.
