This British band is a contemporary classic. With their latest album The Something Rain (City Slang, 2012) they were reborn, and their sound has nothing to envy to their times of glory. They preserve, led by Stuart Staples, the lofty chamber pop of their early albums. The sound of the band starts from independent pop incorporating orchestral arrangements, jazz and soul.
What distinguishes Tindersticks are the deep baritone voice of Stuart Staples, which relates him to the classic crooners, and the sophisticated orchestrations by Dickon Hinchliffe, that using a large variety of instruments contributed to the group's eclectic sound. He uses the Fender Rhodes, the carillon, vibraphone, violin, trumpet, bassoon and Hammond organ.
