The project of Ignacio Uriarte (Krefeld, Germany vi, 1972) revolves around the sound work Acht Stunden zählen, where we heard a male voice counting numbers at the rate of one syllable per second for 8 hours, turning the spoken language into structured time.
With this installation a reflection on time and abstract category and its representation through language is proposed. The mural 9999is composed of numbers and extends over two walls with a mirror effect. The numbers show different densities repeated periodically to create patterns of different shades of gray on the wall.
In both pieces the numbers take on a sculptural character, invading the space in the form of sound waves or representing its material value as a mural.
