The fourth proposal of the VIII Vila de Santanyí International Music Festival is this lyrical concert with the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears directed by its leader Pablo Mielgo. It is celebrated in the parish church of Sant Andreu and has the participation of Trinidad Montero (cantaora), Irene Mas (soprano) and José Manuel Sánchez (baritone) as soloist.
The program consists of two works by Manuel de Falla (Cádiz, 1876-Alta Gracia, Argentina, 1946): El amor brujo, a ballet with cante jondo later transformed for a symphony orchestra; and El retablo de Maese Pedro, a musical work for puppets with a libretto based on an episode from Don Quixote.
Admission is free, but a donation is requested for the Santanyí organ. Built in 1762 by the Mallorcan Jordi Bosch (1739-1801), it surprises with the majesty and at the same time poetry of its voices and its advanced technology, which makes it unique in its genre.
