The young pianist Wei Yi Yang is acclaimed worldwide for his interpretative skills and an imaginative program. He participated in the Deià International Music Festival in the 2016 edition, and now he returns with a program dedicated to the music of Robert Schumann.
Born in Taiwan, Wei Yi Yang studied first in Great Britain and later in the United States with renowned Russian pianists, such as Arkady Aronov or Boris Berman. He has collaborated with many high-level interpreters and performed on stages in America, Asia, Europe and Australia. Winner of the gold medal in the International Piano Competition of San Antonio (USA).
The Deià International Music Festival has been held since 1978 in the music room of Son Marroig, one of the former properties of Archduke Luis Salvador in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca. It was created by the now defunct Patrick Meadows, jazz musician and poet, and his partner Stephanie Shepard. Since a few years, the artistic direction falls on the pianist Alfredo Oyagüez Montero.
It is dedicated to chamber music, although it also includes proposals for styles such as jazz or flamenco.
