Winterreise (Winter Travel) is a cycle of lieder composed for voice and piano by Franz Schubert in 1827 on poems by Wilhelm Müller. It narrates, without a clear line of argument but with great emotional intensity, the reflections of a man as he walks alone during the winter, after knowing that his beloved has left him. Schubert composed this cycle in his last year of life.
The Austrian singer Waltraud Mucher, accompanied by the young pianist Magí Garcías, interpret the 24 songs that comprise Winterreise, transmitting all the intensity and tragic dimension of this work of the Austrian composer.
