XII Feria de Santo Tomas Sample Matanzas

The killings are a secular tradition in Mallorca and this fair is a unique opportunity to learn everything about them. One of the day's activities takes place in the ancient possessió Es Puig de Sineu, where the recreation of a day of slaughter is carried out. Formerly, at the houses a pig was fattened throughout the year and, usually in November, they sacrificed it with a fiesta in which  family and friends participated.

The Fair is installed around the Market and Plaza and opens at ten o'clock on Sunday 14 receiving authorities and a parade, accompanied by de Gegants de Sineu and the Colla de Xeremiers. There will be tasting of fried sobrassada , bird shows, selling crafts and traditional sausages and a sample of encaje de mundillo.

Throughout the morning there will be activities such as the demonstration of ball de bot with the groups Copeo de Sineu and Brot d'Alfabaguera (in the Mercat de Fossar at 11:00 h.), a Fat pigs contest is held (12:00.) and the performance of the School of Xeremiers de Sineu (Plaça de l'Església at 12:00 h.).

Restaurants, bars and cellars also add to the fair, featuring on this day dishes made from pork as the frito Mallorquin or loin with cabbage, among other traditional recipes.
