First concert of the XV Pianino Festival which is held as every year in the Cell of F. Chopin and G. Sand of the Cartuja of Valldemossa. The chosen date is March 1, the day on which the 214th anniversary of the birth of Frédéric Chopin and Balearic Islands Day are celebrated.
The concert will be conducted by the prestigious Japanese pianist Yukiko Akagi, considered an artist with a unique temperament and great stage presence while giving her interpretations a formidable vitality. Awarded in various international competitions, Yukiko is one of the most prominent and active representatives of her generation.
She made her American debut at New York's Carnegie Hall in 2004 and the success she received prompted her to widely develop her career throughout the United States, performing in some of the most prestigious halls in the country. She has been awarded numerous times, receiving the Dorothy Macenzie Honor Award from the International Piano Institute, the Frinna Awarbuch Piano Competition and the New York Artist Concert Competition in New York, among others.
