The Valladolid-based company Teatro del Azar presents Escupir el cielo (Spitting Out the Sky), a dark comedy written and directed by Javier Esteban Lamarca.
A middle-aged man and woman tear through the night on a lonely secondary road on an old motorcycle. The exhausted machine needs to fill its small gas tank, and the diffused light of a service station promises the help they need.
While the man is pumping gas, the woman has entered the gas station's convenience store to replenish her energy with something sweet. An unexpected and inexplicable act of violence erupts, ending with the woman holding the cash register and a corpse at her feet. The man and woman are forced to lock themselves inside the small gas station, feigning normalcy and trying to keep the unwelcome and unusually frequent customers who show up that night from discovering the truth.
Escupir el cielo stars Mercedes Asenjo and Carlos Tapia. Cinematic performers: Emilio Seco, Cristina Hilenia, Marta González, and Raúl Escudero. Language: Spanish.
