The Third Wave was an experiment carried out by Ron Jones, a history teacher at Cubberley High School in California, to show that even free societies are not immune to the lure of dictatorial ideologies, as part of a study on Nazi Germany with high school students.
Based on this event, the American writer Todd Strasser wrote The Wave in 1981, which in 2008 was made into a movie by Dennis Gansel.
Joan T. Sunyer is now directing this adaptation to the theater that is presented at the Auditori de Manacor. La gran mar is performed by Guillem Galmés, Antònia Galmés, Guillem Obrador, Maria Estelrich, Júlia Riera, Francesc Timoner, Joan Cristòfol Grimalt and Julià Duran.
