Fernando Soto directs this adaptation of ¡Ay Carmela!, by the playwright and Valencian theater director José Sanchis Sinisterra. Premiered in Madrid in 1987 and in Buenos Aires in 1989, it was taken to the cinema by Carlos Saura and released in 1990.
Ay Carmela has won the Award for the best performance of Palma Feria de Artes Escénicas de Andalucía 2018.
Cristina Medina and Santiago Molero play Carmela and Paulino, two actors who, in the middle of a civil war, perform in republican Spain. The Francoist troops take them prisoner and force them to make a show for them, which will outrage Carmela.
